Percival Arthur Harrison was born on 22 Sep 1872 at Campbell Town, the third of seven children born to Arthur John Harrison (1835-1890) and his wife Alice Weedon who were married on 10 Sep 1868. The family moved to Launceston when Percival was still young. He was educated at E A Nathan's Launceston High School at Milton Hall. In 1887 he joined the railway staff and in 1889 transferred to the Union Bank of Australia where he served for a number of years in Launceston and Latrobe. He was later employed by the Derwent and Tamar Insurance Co. and the National Insurance Co. of New Zealand. Percival was also in business as a sharebroker, land, estate and general commission agent for the firm C J Weedon and Co.
Percival was active in the following organizations: Mt Bischoff Tin Mining Co.; Tasmanian Permanent Executors and Trustees' Association; Arba Tin Mining Co.; Tasmanian Finance and Agency Co.; Lodge of Hope; Old Grammarians' Masonic Lodge; Launceston Stock Exchange; Fathers' Association and various patriotic associations during the Second World War. At Longford, he was involved with Christ Church, Longford Fire Brigade Board and the Northern Agricultural Society.
On 9 Apr 1913 Percival married Lucilla Caroline Victoria (Lucie) Arthur at Christ Church, Longford. They had two children: Charles (Tom) in Sep 1914 and Lucilla (Peggy) in Dec 1915. Percival died at his home 'Norley', Longford, on 25 Oct 1945 and was buried in the Christ Church Anglican Cemetery at Longford. Lucie died aged 83 on 27 Apr 1964.
