Harry Norton Taylor was born about 1840 at Hungerford in England. He was the eldest son of John Taylor, of Suffolk. Harry married Mary Ann Amelia Prosser on 12 Oct 1887 at St Paul's Anglican Church, Launceston. Mary was the second daughter of Thomas B Prosser of Launceston. Harry was an inspector of public works and was honorary engineer for the Cataract Gorge Scheme of 1889. He designed the tea rooms and bandstand planned for the gardens at the First Basin. His wife is also pictured in the Family Album.
