









Edith Tarlton was born in South Australia in 1880, the youngest daughter and eighth child of Robert Alfred Tarlton (1828-1918) and his second wife Sophia Walters Turner. Edith attended the Methodist Ladies College with her sister Maud. In 1894 she was awarded the School Prize by popular vote of the students. She married Henry George Blake.
