Clement Theodore Stephenson was born in Launceston on 26 Mar 1877 to Rev. Francis Ewans Stephenson (1829-1885), Wesleyan Minister, and Louisa Ann Hobday (1838-1922) who married in Victoria in 1862. Clement was the eighth of eleven children. He was a pupil at Launceston High School and became an electrical engineer. He married Clara Beatrice (Trixy) Genders on 28 Jan 1910 at St John's Church, Launceston. They had one son, Joseph Theodore, born on 14 Feb 1911. Clement died on 10 Jul 1941 at Kew, Victoria.
