Percy James Steer was born in Launceston on 25 Sep 1870, the third child and eldest son of James Steer (1841-1911) and his wife Elizabeth Fanny Gould (1845-1907). Percy moved to Fremantle, Western Australia, by 1903 where he was a produce merchant. He later lived in Perth and was employed as a newsvendor. He was interred in the Congregational section of the Karrakatta Cemetery on 18 Dec 1929. See The Examiner 22 Apr 2006, p. 30.
