Frances Gabriel (Frank) McAuliffe was born in Launceston on 4 Aug 1876, the youngest of eight daughters of Denis McAuliffe (1831-1916), a police sergeant, and Johanna Ryan (c.1837-1910) who were married in Launceston in 1857. Her sister Maria and brother Denis Bernard McAuliffe also appear in the Album. Frances McAuliffe was a soprano in the Tasmanian Exhibition Choir of 1891-92. She married William Simeon Curnow from Devonshire, England, on 21 Mar 1898. The ceremony took place at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Johannesburg, South Africa, and was officiated by the Rev. Father Chamard.
