This is possibly George Davies, gardener to the Hon. William Hart MLC, who won several prizes for horticulture at the Tasmanian Exhibition in 1891-92.
It is not known if George is related to others named Davies who exhibited at the Exhibition:
Joseph Davies, mine manager of Beaconsfield, exhibited geological maps of the Beaconsfield district; and
Ann Jane Davies, nee Francis, who married James Davies in Nov 1839 and had ten children between 1840 and 1861, exhibited a knitted counterpane at the Exhibition.
